Jessica R. Keeshan, Certified PLS

If you had to sum up the lifestyle of many military spouses in one word, one could say "nomadic"-- with frequent moves leading to locations overseas, high cost areas, and areas where the prospects for employment may be poor.

Thanks to the growth of the Internet and the emerging virtual assisting industry, I, as a military spouse whose expertise lies in the legal administrative support arena, have found it much easier to stretch my entrepreneurial wings.

I have worked in the legal profession for over 18 years, starting out as a legal secretary and earning other titles such as office manager, legal assistant and paralegal.

In March of 2007, I became a Certified Professional Legal Secretary.  What is a Certified PLS?  PLSŪ is the designation for lawyer's assistants who want to be identified as exceptional. Certification is received after passing a one-day, four-part examination which demonstrates not only dedication to professionalism but acceptance of the challenge to be exceptional. Personal motivation is necessary to attain such a goal. The purpose of the examination is to certify a lawyer's assistant as a person who possesses:

  • a mastery of office skills
  • the ability to interact on a professional level with attorneys, clients, and other support staff
  • the discipline to assume responsibility and exercise initiative and judgment, and
  • a working knowledge of procedural law, the law library, and how to prepare legal documents. (Description taken from NALS website)

I look forward to providing you with the excellent service you deserve and being a part of your team!
